Zillergrund
The Zillergrund is the easternmost of the four side valleys and lies on the edge of the High Mountain Nature Park Zillertal Alps. It is about 20 kilometers long and stretches from the Austrian-Italian border to Mayrhofen.
The rear part of the Zillergrund is called Zillergründl. Here, you will also find the 3 km long reservoir of the same name. The valley extends from Mayrhofen in an easterly to southeasterly direction, reaching the Reichenspitz Group and the main ridge of the Zillertal Alps, where it crosses the Heilig-Geist-Jöchl, providing a high alpine pass into the Ahrntal. To the south, three smaller side valleys branch off: Bodengrund, Sundergrund, and Hundskehle. The Brandberger Kolm separates the Zillergrund from the Gerlostal to the north, and the Ahorn Ridge with the Ahornspitze separates it from Stillupgrund.

Schlegeis
In the Zemmgrund, you will find the idyllic mountaineering village of Ginzling in the Zillertal. The village is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters and is surrounded by the majestic backdrop of several three-thousand-meter peaks. From there, you can take the approximately 16 km long Schlegeis Alpine Road, which leads you through the beautiful valley of the Zamser Bach to the Schlegeis reservoir. Be impressed by the sight of the imposing structure. With a "double-curved" dam wall that is 725 meters long and 131 meters high, the Schlegeis reservoir is one of the largest reservoirs in Tyrol and Austria, yet it blends harmoniously into the stunning natural scenery of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park.
